A shocking story has emerged from Scotland, as a 30-year-old woman was found guilty of murdering her newborn daughter in her apartment in Glasgow. According to details revealed during the trial, the 30-year-old killed her 19-day-old baby in July 2023, after losing her composure as she struggled to care for the child. During the trial at the High Court, it was revealed that the baby suffered “catastrophic” injuries, including broken ribs and three skull fractures, indicating she had sustained blunt force trauma.
Scotland: Life sentence for 30-year-old who murdered her newborn daughter
Blaine attempted to blame another child who was also in the apartment. She claimed she woke up from sleep and found her daughter lying on the floor, arguing that the small child was responsible for what happened to the baby. However, prosecutors called her claims “nonsense” and the jury rejected her explanations at the Glasgow High Court trial. Judge Lord Scott announced that “I will impose a life sentence.”
After murdering her own daughter, the 30-year-old posted a series of TikTok videos about the baby’s death and requested donations for the funeral. In videos published in the days following the murder, the mother begged for money to rent a horse-drawn hearse for the baby’s coffin. She described the death as an “unexpected tragedy.”
The 30-year-old also told users she would learn to live with the loss of her child. In other videos, she appeared lying on a pink knitted blanket with matching teddy bears, saying she was “sleeping with the baby’s things that would go in the coffin.”
“I don’t see light at the end of this tunnel for me”
In videos that have since been deleted, the 30-year-old said: “This is about an unexpected tragedy that happened. Nobody deserves the shit I’ve been through, losing my little girl is the worst thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. I really don’t see light at the end of this tunnel for me. It’s been over a week, but I feel like it happened last night.”
“All I want is to have my baby back”
She continued: “I know many people are talking about helping me with the funeral. I want a horse-drawn carriage, something that costs some money. If people want to donate, I would be grateful. Good things will happen to you. I’ll manage to learn to live with this eventually, but I don’t know how long it will take me. Everyone tells me I’m very strong, all I want is to have my baby back.”
In another TikTok video, she said there were “many rumors” about the baby’s death. “I’m her mother, I was there, I know what happened, I don’t need to explain what happened,” she stated.
