New video from the attack that occurred a few days ago at the White House correspondents’ dinner is making rounds on the internet. The video captures minute-by-minute the attack by 31-year-old Cole Allen, who attempted to enter the room where the Trump couple was located.
This is new video footage from outside the “Washington Hilton” hotel ballroom, where the White House correspondents’ dinner was taking place with Donald Trump as the guest. The video shows the perpetrator, 31-year-old Cole Allen, running with his weapons while security personnel look stunned at what has happened. The footage also includes clips showing him wandering inside the hotel shortly before the attack.
White House correspondents’ dinner attack: What the new documentary video reveals
As shown in the video, Allen arrives at the hotel elevators where he enters one of them, approached by a police dog. Indeed, the dog enters the elevator but the accompanying officer removed the animal. At that moment Allen, wearing a black shirt and red tie, began running and quickly passed through the security checkpoint.
He opened fire and shot a Secret Service agent who was to his right. The agent returned fire while collapsing, having been hit by a bullet in the chest. His life was saved thanks to the bulletproof vest he was wearing and his mobile phone.
The immediate police response
Other police officers and security personnel reacted immediately, opening fire toward the perpetrator, who continued moving toward the reception hall, where Trump and his wife, Vice President Vance, and other high-ranking officials were located at that moment.
Prosecutors were set to present the video during his detention hearing on Thursday to document that he poses a danger to public safety. However, according to Fox, his defense changed stance at the last minute and consented to his detention.
Cole Allen faces three federal charges: attempted assassination of the president, illegal interstate transportation of a firearm, and use of a firearm during the commission of a criminal act. If convicted, he could face up to life imprisonment.
