The condition of Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, George Mylonakis, is described as “serious but controlled” according to the official medical statement from “Evangelismos” Hospital, following a fainting episode he suffered during the morning coffee at the Maximos Mansion on Wednesday morning. Specifically, according to the announcement: “Today 15.04.2026 at 09:30, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Mr. George Mylonakis, was transferred to General Hospital “EVANGELISMOS” after a fainting episode, where he is undergoing the necessary medical examinations. His condition is deemed serious but controlled.” The announcement is brief and does not specify the cause of the fainting episode.
George Mylonakis: aneurysm rupture caused the fainting episode
The fainting of Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, George Mylonakis during the morning coffee at Maximos Mansion was caused by a brain aneurysm, with him being transferred to the ICU of “Evangelismos” Hospital where he was intubated. Specifically, the CT scan that the Prime Minister’s close associate underwent showed a blood clot. Subsequently, George Mylonakis presented with cerebral (subarachnoid) hemorrhage, resulting in him being taken to surgery, and his condition is characterized as critical.
Shortly after 1:00 PM, the embolization was completed and he was readmitted to the ICU. From the first moment, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis and Deputy Health Minister Marios Themistokleous were present at Evangelismos, while Kyriakos Mitsotakis spent 45 minutes at the hospital to learn about his colleague’s health progress.

According to information, the incident occurred in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, while an ambulance was immediately called and rushed him to “Evangelismos” Hospital.
