The confrontation between Adonis Georgiadis and PASOK is intensifying amid the heated debate over political favoritism in OPEKEPE, as both the Health Minister and Charilaou Trikoupi are exchanging accusations through statements and social media posts. On one side, PASOK speaks of a “whitewashing” campaign and calls on justice authorities to summon Adonis Georgiadis to answer whether he has engaged in favoritism by MPs that harm public interest. On the other hand, the Health Minister responded with an attack on Nikos Androulakis. Mr. Georgiadis states that the PASOK president “puts the party of sectoral interests, the Green Guards etc. to accuse me of favoritism”.

“I always believed that @androulakisnick is completely inadequate for his position. Here’s an example. He puts PASOK, I repeat PASOK, to accuse me and New Democracy of favoritism… the party of sectoral interests, the Green Guards etc. accuses me of favoritism. He must consider Greek citizens completely foolish to think that anyone would seriously believe that PASOK just learned that favoritism was happening in Greece… Substantively, I have never engaged in any illegal favoritism in my life, I have never harmed state or European funds. I always travel in economy class so as not to charge the Greek taxpayer even 1€ extra, because I respect their effort.
Yes, I have responded and respond and will respond to requests from colleagues of all parties as well as ordinary citizens. Whenever I can be useful to my fellow citizens within the framework of the law, I do so. My main assertion is that my colleagues being investigated by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office did not do, from what I read in the case files, anything more than what all MPs do every day. PASOK against Georgiadis: He has put the “whitewashing” machine on full, cannot be allowed to operate publicly as a corruptor of morals
In the statement issued earlier by PASOK, it is noted -among other things- that Mr. Georgiadis has put the “whitewashing” machine on full and thinks that with cheap bravado the government will get out of the difficult position it has found itself in after the unprecedented situation in Greek history where justice demands investigation of 13 MPs of the ruling party and two former Ministers.
PASOK’s statement regarding Adonis Georgiadis’ declarations about favoritism:
“The Minister of Health and Vice President of New Democracy, Mr. A. Georgiadis, has put the “whitewashing” machine on full and thinks that with cheap bravado the government will get out of the difficult position it has found itself in after the unprecedented situation in Greek history where justice demands investigation of 13 MPs of the ruling party and two former Ministers. Since yesterday he “threatens” that any opposition MP who criticizes his New Democracy colleagues will have messages about favoritism published.
Since, as Minister claims, he has received and satisfied favoritism requests from MPs that harm public interest, the state treasury and community resources, we expect immediate intervention from the Prosecutor. Justice must summon Mr. Georgiadis to submit all evidence of illegal actions and explain his own involvement in them. The Health Minister cannot be allowed to operate publicly as a corruptor of morals, insulting the entire political world to convince society that favoritism leading to law violations is normal for everyone. Enough with the decadence”.
Adonis Georgiadis’ statements about “favoritism” that ignited “fires”
It should be recalled that yesterday (07/04) Adonis Georgiadis warned opposition MPs who are… sharpening their knives to attack the government for doing… favoritism. Specifically, speaking on SKAI radio, Mr. Georgiadis emphasized that if opposition MPs accuse his New Democracy colleagues, he will publish the favoritism they have requested from him. He also said it was not an invention of Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ government. “Political mediation, what we disparagingly call ‘favoritism’, was neither invented under Mitsotakis, nor created by New Democracy MPs,” emphasized Adonis Georgiadis. He commented that “the concept of ‘political mediation’ is inherent to Democracy. It exists in all democracies of the world. Political mediation is neither undemocratic nor unethical. Illegality is one thing, ‘favoritism’ is another,” he said regarding the new case file for the OPEKEPE affair involving 11 “blue” MPs. “We want to build a state that will function automatically. The more the state functions automatically, the more the need for mediation is limited. The model we made in EFKA, the model we made in the armed forces, the model we made with state digitization, this must be extended. This is the logical conversation, of logical people,” he emphasized
