Developments are unfolding rapidly regarding the horrific case of Eirini Mourtzoukou. According to ERT, authorities are focusing on the death of Panagiotakis. At the same time, details coming to light about the deaths of four infants are causing shock. It should be noted that the 25-year-old is being held and is expected to give her formal testimony on Sunday, July 13, before the investigating magistrate in Patras.

Public television reports that until then, police will be racing against time to “unlock” Eirini Mourtzoukou, in order to see if they can extract a confession regarding the fifth infant in the case, Panagiotakis.
Based on the testimony she had given, there are questions about what she will claim and whether she will maintain the same stance she had toward the police, ERT emphasizes. After all, on Sunday the 25-year-old will have to provide answers to the investigating magistrate about how the murders of the children occurred. This is a point that Eirini Mourtzoukou has not mentioned, as she says she does not remember those moments and exactly how she acted, the same report notes.
It remains to be seen whether she will continue to cooperate with authorities, while her lawyer emphasized that shocking revelations are expected in the formal testimony.
Patras: Forensic medical service under guard
Following the rapid developments, the Patras Forensic Medical Service remains under guard. It should be noted that an urgent preliminary investigation was ordered for criminal liability of forensic doctors, following complaints about serious omissions.
It should be noted that outside the Patras Forensic Medical Service, there is police presence monitoring the area to ensure no evidence that could contribute to the investigation ordered by the Patras Court of Appeals Prosecutor’s Office is lost.
According to ERT, the investigation will cover everything and everyone, given that not only the cases of the four infants will be examined, but also previous complaints that had been made regarding forensic acts that ultimately proved to be erroneous.
It is emphasized that after the serious systemic failures revealed by the Pispirigou and Mourtzoukou cases, the Ministry of Justice decided to… bring Artificial Intelligence and Digital Assistant to forensic reports.
At the center of the reform is the introduction of an innovative Information System with Artificial Intelligence, which will be used in every autopsy-necrotomy.
The system, installed on tablets, will allow the forensic pathologist to record their observations by voice, register photographs of the corpse, and receive an automated forensic report draft, which they can then edit.
The technology is being developed by the University of Piraeus and is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2025. The goal is to drastically reduce delays, which until recently reached up to three years.
