Chaotic scenes unfolded Saturday night in southern Israel, when Iranian ballistic missiles struck residential areas in the cities of Arad and Dimona, causing hundreds of injuries and extensive damage. According to initial reports, at least two missiles were not intercepted by air defense systems and landed in urban areas, with images and videos from Arad capturing the scale of destruction.

Specifically in Arad, casualties numbered 68, of whom 10 are hospitalized in serious condition and 14 sustained moderate injuries, while the rest received first aid for minor injuries.

Israel: Air Force investigates failure to intercept missile that hit Arad
Meanwhile, the Israeli Air Force announced it has launched an investigation into the failure to intercept the missile that struck Arad, while the Home Front Command is conducting a parallel investigation. Israeli military spokesperson Brigadier General Efi Defrin stated that “the air defense systems operated but failed to intercept the missile,” adding that the incident will be thoroughly investigated. “This is not some unknown type of ammunition,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke of “a very difficult night in the struggle for our future,” emphasizing that Israel will continue to strike its enemies “on all fronts with determination.”
