The Kastoria Forest Service and a local veterinarian were immediately notified. Upon approaching the unfortunate animal, they found it had suffered a serious gunshot wound to its right shoulder blade.
Despite the veterinarian’s persistent efforts to provide first aid, the small animal was unable to survive and died shortly after being transported to the veterinary clinic.

According to the Environmental Organization Callisto, it was a male bear cub approximately six months old and weighing 10.5 kilograms.
The subsequent autopsy revealed that it also had an exit wound from the bullet on its left shoulder blade, indicating that it received a direct shot from very close range. This is the third bear found dead in the last three months in the Kastoria Regional Unit.
