The weather scenario is expected to be unstable today, Saturday (07/03) and tomorrow, Sunday (08/03), with cloud cover and local rainfall in several regions of the country, according to the forecast from the National Meteorological Service (EMY). Meanwhile, temperatures will drop slightly, while strong northerly winds in the Aegean will be the main weather characteristic for the coming days.
Today’s weather forecast
Central, eastern and northern regions expect increased cloud cover, with possibility of weak local rain during morning hours. The rest of the country will experience sunshine with scattered clouds. Early morning and late evening visibility will be locally limited, mainly in central and northern mainland areas.
Temperatures will range in Western Macedonia from -3 to 14 degrees, in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace from 2 to 14-16, in Epirus from 4 to 17-18 degrees, in central mainland areas from 5 to 17-19, in other mainland areas from 5 to 17-19 degrees, in the Ionian Islands from 8 to 17, in the North and Northeastern Aegean islands from 7 to 13-15 degrees, and in the remaining island sections of the Aegean and Crete from 7 to 16-18 degrees Celsius.
Winds in the Aegean will blow from the north-northeast with intensities of 4-5 Beaufort and locally in Crete 6 Beaufort, while in the Dodecanese northwest winds with intensities of 4-5 Beaufort will prevail. In the Ionian Sea, winds will blow mainly from eastern directions with intensities of 2-4 Beaufort, except in the Kythera area where east-northeastern winds with intensities of 4-5 Beaufort will prevail.
In Attica prefecture and Athens city, increased cloud cover is expected until morning with possibility of temporary weak rain mainly in northern parts of the prefecture. From midday hours, few clouds will prevail. Winds will blow north-northeastern with intensities of 3-4 Beaufort and locally in eastern areas 5 Beaufort. Temperature will range from 9 to 17 degrees.
In Thessaloniki, temporarily increased cloud cover is expected. Winds will blow mainly from southeastern directions, weak. Early morning and late evening visibility will be locally limited. Temperature will range from 8 to 15 degrees.
Sunday’s weather
In the northern Ionian, Epirus, western and central Macedonia and Thessaly, periodically increased clouds with local rain. In eastern Sterea, Evia, Sporades, Cyclades and Crete, few local clouds. In the rest of the country, generally clear weather. Visibility during morning and evening hours on mainland will be locally limited.
Winds will blow variable 3 to 4 in western areas, north-northeastern 4 to 6 in eastern areas, and locally up to 7 Beaufort in central and northern Aegean.
Temperature will not show significant change. It will reach 13 to 15 degrees in northern areas, 16 to 18 in other regions, and locally 19 degrees Celsius in the Dodecanese and southern Crete.
