The brutal abuse he endured from the age of seven was described in detail to the investigating judge by the 17-year-old from Leros who killed his father. According to what the 17-year-old’s lawyer, Panagiotis Avrithis, said on the show “Truths with Zina,” the child said the abuse was daily. After 2022, when his father had been charged with domestic violence, he behaved impeccably inside the house. However, when they went down to the workshop, he suffered such abuse that it reached the limits of torture. “I was shocked by the violence of the beatings he described. He had crucified the child on one hand. With a small drill, a tool that was like a screwdriver, he went through from the palm to the upper side of the hand. We’re talking about real torture. He did this on purpose, it wasn’t done by accident,” the lawyer said characteristically.
He described that on the first day of his arrest, he cried non-stop and kept saying that he didn’t want to kill his father. “Even now when he refers to his father and when these memories come to him, he cries. And the only thing he says is that he didn’t want it and that he loved his father. But on the other hand, his descriptions were shocking. He told the investigating judge ‘if you knew how much beating I’ve taken from this hose and how much burning I’ve felt,’ showing her a hose that was in her office,” said Mr. Avrithis. According to him, however, the 17-year-old needs a lot of help from specialists who will try to heal his childhood traumas.
