Incredible outrage is being caused by the incident involving an attempted rape of a 25-year-old disabled woman in Kypseli, Athens, with the alleged perpetrator being a 64-year-old man of Albanian origin, who was reported by the victim’s mother last Saturday, February 21st. The 64-year-old voluntarily presented himself to police with his lawyer today, Tuesday, February 24th. The victim’s mother reported him for attempted rape against her disabled daughter, after seeing footage from security cameras inside their home in Kypseli. As the woman revealed, the 64-year-old also attempted to sexually assault her other daughter, the 25-year-old twin sister of the first victim, who is also disabled. The man was known to the family and had been their neighbor for years, often helping them. The woman said that when she saw the 64-year-old through the closed-circuit cameras she had installed in her home and realized what had happened, she reported the incident to the authorities.
Kypseli: Mother’s fury over attempted rape of 25-year-old disabled daughter
Speaking to Live News, the girls’ mother described the shocking incident as she experienced it. “I first want to thank ‘Disabled People’s Voice’ who have stood by me. That day, I quickly went to the pharmacy to get a pair of glasses and he came here, and as the cameras recorded, he checked if I was home, because he had a key to the storage room to leave the groceries I asked him to buy for me,” the 25-year-old’s mother said initially.
She added: “He ran errands for everyone in the neighborhood and was paid monthly. I had no help because I recently ‘lost’ my mother, but this man had never entered my house before. I would tell him ‘please help me with water and groceries,’ I would write down what I owed him and pay him at the end of the month. When I opened the front door, I saw him on top of my child sexually assaulting her, as shown in the video footage. I started cursing and chasing him. He was naked and trying to hug me and apologize. He kept saying ‘sorry, I made a mistake’ and I don’t accept that. My brain was sealed with the images I saw of my child. I grabbed a pan, hit him on the head and we fell down. I punched him twice but I don’t care if he hit me. I have bruises because he was pulling my hair, the only thing I care about is what he did to my child, which I saw on the cameras.”
“I don’t promise I’m holding back from worse things. Right next to her was the other girl, the twin. She’s quadriplegic, has had 8 surgeries and was watching this scene. My brain locked up, the only thing I did was apologize to my child. The girls were examined at Thriasio Hospital, they weren’t harmed, but the police didn’t take the sheet from my daughter’s bed. Twenty police officers were here and the man called me 4 times, and as soon as he heard a police officer on the phone he would hang up,” the girls’ mother said.
