A fierce confrontation erupted in the Greek Parliament between Course of Freedom leader Zoe Konstantopoulou and Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis. Minister Georgiadis came to Parliament’s plenary session to respond to the Course of Freedom leader, who since Thursday morning has been attacking him with harsh characterizations such as “far-right fascist type” and “despicable subject.”
Requesting to speak on a personal matter, Adonis Georgiadis announced he would sue her. “On Monday, because you also called me a chicken, my lawsuit will be filed and today’s incidents will be included” he announced. He then launched an attack on Zoe Konstantopoulou, saying she “represents the most toxic, most poisonous, most abusive thing that has passed through Parliament in many years”.
Georgiadis against Konstantopoulou: “I’m the one who will put you in prison, I’ll sue you 15 times a week“
According to Mr. Georgiadis, this is known “first by her own MPs” since she has lost 40% of her parliamentary strength. “She’s the only party leader who in 3 years has had 40% of her parliamentary group spit on her. She entered with 8, remained with 5, obviously no one can stand her” he said characteristically. He also added that he never defended Violanta company. “I don’t even know the owner. I made a comment because I had visited their facilities and they have indeed won 25 international awards. I said literally we must wait for the report” Mr. Georgiadis noted and added: “All this attempt to slander me will not pass.” At another point he emphasized that “I’m the one who will put you in prison, I’ll sue you 15 times a week”.
“Despicable subject”: Konstantopoulou’s insults against Adonis
Earlier, the Course of Freedom president had launched fierce attacks against Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, calling him a “despicable subject” while shortly before she had denounced the fact that Labor Minister Niki Kerameos “didn’t say a word about the dead female workers at the Violanta factory“. The Labor Minister didn’t leave the attacks unanswered and taking the floor rushed to emphasize that she has positioned herself extensively on the Violanta factory tragedy, adding that an investigation by the Justice system is ongoing. She also accused Mrs. Konstantopoulou of hypocritical interest regarding worker safety and of a “staged” show while students from Trikala were in the gallery.
She also rushed to remind that Course of Freedom voted against provisions to strengthen the safety framework in workplaces. She also called on her to respect the terms of “political culture” and to stop insulting MPs when they are absent from the chamber and cannot respond. “These subjects are not my colleagues” Mrs. Konstantopoulou insisted without retracting her characterizations of Adonis Georgiadis.
“I will not tolerate any junta”
Later, Adonis Georgiadis emphasized that the leader “accused me of junta while I learned about the lawsuit. When I woke up in the morning, a police officer from Exarchia sent me a message. The message was very mocking for a political leader with a description of the lawsuit scene, even about the clothing you wore entering the Exarchia Police Station. No junta is needed for people to understand how ridiculous it is to go nine minutes before 12 at night. Only a ridiculous person does such things, like you. I will not tolerate any junta. I don’t defend any Mr. Panagopoulos, but having lived through Novartis on my skin, I have something that the rape advocate Mrs. Konstantopoulou hasn’t managed to learn yet, respect for the presumption of innocence. You know nothing about sacred things, you only know about rapists who are your clients and you socialize with them”.
