Hydrocarbons – Papastaurou: Next week Chevron will come to Greece and we will have the signings
It should be recalled that earlier today, Tuesday (10/2), in the morning, the Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastaurou emphasized that “next week Chevron will come to Greece and we will have the signings of the four agreements in record time,” adding that this way, “a very important prospect for our country will advance, which is the development of the hydrocarbons sector.”
Additionally, the minister, speaking on Action 24, referred to the Vertical Corridor, which he characterized as a complex project that is “getting on track.” As he mentioned, the Vertical Corridor constitutes a project of strategic convergence between the US and Europe, with Greece emerging as a protagonist in this convergence. Furthermore, he emphasized that addressing complex regulatory issues is required so that the corridor becomes commercially attractive and can be utilized more effectively by the market.
Subsequently, regarding energy costs, Mr. Papastaurou noted that electricity prices constitute a “headache for every household.” However, he said that Greece ranks 10th in Europe in terms of lowest wholesale electricity prices, a fact that, as he mentioned, reflects the country’s comparative position in the European energy market.
Moreover, referring to Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s government policy, Stavros Papastaurou emphasized that regional development “is not a slogan, it is a top priority.” Finally, he underlined that the regions constitute the country’s strength and are at the core of the government’s development strategy.
