A serious incident occurred on Iera Odos (Sacred Way) when a well-known basketball player from the Elite League caused major disruption to traffic and railway operations after being arrested for drunk driving. Denzel Zachary Bryan, an athlete competing in the championship, was arrested by officers from the Athens Traffic Police Subdivision, facing serious charges. According to authorities, the player had left his car immobilized on the railway tracks at the intersection of Konstantinoupoleos Avenue with Iera Odos. The incident resulted in train service suspension for an extended period, causing suffering to passengers and serious problems to the area’s transportation network.

Hellenic Train announced that services were suspended from 06:00 to 07:40, until the vehicle was removed and safety was restored to the tracks. Meanwhile, the basketball player underwent an alcohol test, with incriminating results. The first measurement recorded 0.51 mg/l and the second 0.56 mg/l, values that exceed permitted limits. Police authorities immediately proceeded with his arrest, while charges were filed against him for obstruction of transportation, dangerous driving, as well as illegal entry and stay in the country. The player was taken to the Athens Traffic Police Subdivision, where he underwent summary proceedings.
