“The coastal road has been cut off so people cannot go down to the coastal highway to escape towards Agia Marina and head to Saronida via Kalyvia,” emphasized the mayor of Kropia, Dimitris Kiousis, on Parapolitika 90.1, during the “Central Magazine” show with journalist Giorgos Pierros, regarding vehicle movement while a major fire rages, which broke out in low vegetation in the Agios Dimitrios area, in Koropi, in Eastern Attica.

Characterizing the situation as tragic, Mr. Kiousis emphasized that the fire “started from areas outside the city plan and moved into residential areas within the city plan. It’s approaching the coastal highway, evacuations have been carried out, two messages have been sent via 112 and we’re waiting for the third to evacuate those neighboring the areas. They’ve reached house yards, the smoke is very dense, the condition of the houses cannot be seen.”
