The first snow made its appearance in Euboea today, Wednesday, New Year’s Eve. Specifically, as evima.gr reports, snow is currently falling from Steni to Stropones, in the Agios area and in Setta in the Municipality of Eretria. Regional machinery is deployed from Steni to Stropones, working to clear the roads.

Weather: Cold and snow on New Year’s Eve
According to meteo.gr, local rainfall is expected today mainly in the eastern and southern lowland areas. In the Eastern and Southern Aegean, there is a possibility of local thunderstorms, mainly during morning hours. Local snowfall is expected in the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of central and northern Greece, while gradually, as temperatures drop, snowfall is expected even in low-altitude areas (locally even in lowland areas) of Macedonia, Thessaly, Eastern Central Greece (including Attica) and the Northern Aegean.
Temperatures will range in Western Macedonia from -11 to 1 degrees Celsius, in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace from -10 to 4 degrees Celsius, in Thessaly from -6 to 4-5 degrees Celsius, in Epirus from -8 to 10 degrees Celsius, in the remaining mainland areas from -4 to 12-13 degrees Celsius, in the Ionian Islands from 5 to 10 degrees Celsius, and in the Aegean islands and Crete from 2 to 15 degrees Celsius.
In the Aegean and Ionian seas, generally northern winds will blow with intensities up to 6-7 Beaufort.
In Attica prefecture, local rainfall is expected in lowland areas and snowfall in mountainous areas. During evening hours, there is a possibility that snowfall may temporarily occur even in low-altitude areas. Winds will blow generally from the north with intensities up to 4-5 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 5 to 10 degrees Celsius, with further drops during evening hours.
In Thessaloniki, local cloud cover is expected. Winds will blow from generally northwestern directions with intensities up to 4-5 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from -1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
