Maria Karystianou spoke on ANT1 and the show “Revelations” about the struggle of relatives of victims of the Tempe tragedy.
“The trial begins in March, which for my case has no interest since there is no charge for carbonization. I know my daughter was burned alive. On the other hand, my focus is on the European Public Prosecutor’s Office which could have, but did not investigate the Ministers for their responsibilities regarding the 717 project, whose non-completion led to the Tempe crime,” Ms. Karystianou initially stated.
To add: “My daughter along with 26 other passengers was burned alive, but there is no charge for this crime, for the fireball and carbonization. Beyond that, there is no charge for the 717 contractors and for Hellenic Train, therefore we are led to a trial which is in a very narrow framework, as it suited the Government, with few charges and few defendants”
Karystianou on new party: “It is a collective movement, a citizens’ movement”
Subsequently, Ms. Karystianou added: “What I said and have been saying for many months is that I support this great social reaction, a great citizens’ movement that has been created against corruption. Obviously I support it. Corruption killed my child. I support it and will try to contribute in any way I can so that it is organized properly and if it is organized properly, because the standards are very high and strict, it will be able to transform into a party, of course there should be a solution for all citizens who want something healthy and new to have a choice”.
Asked whether she intends to lead the formation, she replied: “This is a collective movement, a citizens’ movement, and I will not self-nominate as leader. Only it will indicate who it wants as leader. We don’t want political figures but incorruptible ones who can provide solutions. The most basic thing is that they should not come from a party formation”.
