The climate in the agricultural sector remains tense, with farmers intensifying their mobilizations by setting up blockades at various points across the country, sending a clear message of a tougher stance. At the same time, they appear determined to remain on the streets until the holidays, even proceeding to close various airports, while port closures are also part of their plans.
The farmers, who remain on national and provincial roads as well as at customs points, emphasize that they will not back down, insisting on their basic demands:
- compensation payments
- measures against foot-and-mouth disease
- reduction of production costs
- tax-free agricultural fuel and
- normalization of agricultural subsidy payments
