The internal elections for the selection of new local representatives of New Democracy were held with great success on Sunday, November 23. Specifically, over 122,000 active party members were called to elect their 2,500 representatives who competed for the positions of Presidents and Councils of the 59 Governing Committees of Electoral Regions (GCEP) and the 330 Municipal Local Organizations (MLO).
Additionally, 1,000 delegates were elected to participate in the Regular Congress of New Democracy in spring 2026. 70.2% of the elected Councils consist of new faces, marking the achievement of the goal of renewal in the party’s executive personnel throughout the country.
The renewal rate for MLO Presidents reaches 73.8% and for GCEP Presidents 76.3%, as 45 out of 59 are elected for the first time. Notably, for the first time in the party’s history, 14 women were elected as GCEP Presidents (in the 2021 internal elections, 4 women had been elected).
