The child had visited his mother on Wednesday afternoon (12/11) as part of a court order that had granted custody to the 58-year-old father from Trieste. The 55-year-old was supposed to return the child at 9 PM on Wednesday, but this didn’t happen, prompting the father to contact authorities an hour later.
When police officers and firefighters entered the apartment, they were confronted with an unbelievable scene, as they found the child dead and the woman in a state of shock. According to Italian media reports, the child had been dead for hours, with his mother having killed him by slitting his throat with a knife.

She was facing psychological problems
The 55-year-old, who apparently was dealing with psychological problems, after murdering the 9-year-old who was a fourth-grade elementary school student, attempted to harm herself and is hospitalized under guard. The mayor of Muggia described the family’s situation as “difficult” and said it was known to the authorities
