The Kremlin’s position on nuclear tests
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov clarified Russia’s stance when responding to a TASS question. According to Peskov, Russia has not yet begun preparations for nuclear tests, but is evaluating the necessity of such actions.
“We are first trying to understand whether we need to start preparations, given what we hear from the United States,” emphasized the Russian official.
President Vladimir Putin reiterated that Russia complies with all its obligations under the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. However, he ordered an assessment of the situation following the operational meeting of the Security Council.
