At least nine people were killed in a mass shooting at a school in the city of Graz, Austria, according to Austrian media reports today, including the tabloid newspaper Kronen Zeitung. The national television network ORF reported that the perpetrator was a student at the school who committed suicide after the attack. Police confirmed that an ongoing operation is taking place on Dreierschützengasse street, where a secondary school is located, but declined to comment further.

According to Austrian police and reports from Kronen Zeitung, the operation began around 10 a.m. Gunshots were heard inside the school, triggering an alert for authorities who conducted a thorough search of the building. Citing local police, ORF reported that several people were seriously injured, including students and teachers.
Reports indicate that the gunman allegedly opened fire in two classrooms, with the suspect’s body reportedly found in one of the bathrooms. According to the newspaper, the teenager considered himself a victim of bullying at his school. The area has been cordoned off and a large-scale operation involving helicopters is underway, with participation from the anti-terrorism unit Cobra. Authorities believe multiple weapons were used in the shooting and more victims could emerge. According to information, among the victims are four girls from the 5th grade, one student reportedly killed outside the building, and three students from the 8th grade reportedly shot.
