Austria Massacre: 10 Dead Including Seven Students and One Adult, Graz Mayor Reports – Country in Shock Over Fatal Incident
Graz Mayor Elke Kahr told the Austrian Press Agency APA moments ago that ten people died, including seven students and one adult. The perpetrator is among the casualties.
In a recent social media update, police confirmed there were “multiple fatalities” from the attack in Graz. Earlier, a special Cobra unit and police helicopter were deployed to the crime scene. The location is now secure, according to police reports.
Reports indicate 28 people were seriously injured and hospitalized. At least four are in extremely critical condition. Some reportedly suffered gunshot wounds to the head.
Guardian reporter Jakub Krupa shared the reaction of Austrian television reporters, visibly shocked, saying: “This is very unusual in Austria, we usually report on these things somewhere in the US or somewhere else.”
According to national broadcaster ORF, citing police spokesperson Fritz Grundnig, the perpetrator likely committed suicide.
The suspect was reportedly found dead in one of the bathrooms. He was a student who allegedly considered himself a victim of bullying. State Criminal Police have begun investigating and searching for motives.
