The end of the war in Ukraine within one year from now is feasible, stated Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, during his speech at an investor conference in Saudi Arabia. Dmitriev’s statements came after meetings held with Donald Trump administration officials last week, where the cancellation of the American president’s meeting with Vladimir Putin was announced. Specifically, Dmitriev, who is also CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, told the conference audience in the Saudi capital Riyadh: “We are confident that we are on the path to peace and as peacemakers we need to make it happen.”

Dmitriev: Russia and US close to a “diplomatic solution”
Subsequently, when asked whether peace in Ukraine is feasible within one year, Dmitriev stated: “I believe so.” While in the United States, Dmitriev had declared that Russia and the US are close to a “diplomatic solution” to the war. Meanwhile, Dmitriev praised the cooperation between the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Russia as the top holders of natural resources and said that such cooperation would make the world safer. “The world is right to focus now on the regional conflict that exists around Russia, but we don’t want it to escalate and become a larger conflict. And for this reason we must do better than we have done so far, not worse,” Dmitriev stated.
