Sanctions were imposed today on the rector of a leading Moscow university by the EU. Specifically, a travel ban and asset freeze were imposed on Nikita Anisimov, as earlier in 2025 he launched a graduate program on how to bypass European Union sanctions, according to the Official Journal of the EU.
It should be noted that the EU measures against Nikita Anisimov, who is rector of the Higher School of Economics at the National Research University, are part of the much broader 19th sanctions package against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
