In an interview with Time magazine, regarding the ceasefire achieved through American mediation, Trump appeared categorical: “It’s not going to happen. It’s not going to happen. It’s not going to happen because I gave my word to the Arab countries,” he stated.
He added that such a move cannot be allowed, as the United States has built significant relationships with the Arab world. “Israel will lose all its support from the United States if that happens,” he emphasized.
Vance targets Knesset: “It was very stupid and offensive”
US Vice President J.D. Vance also took a stance, characterizing the Knesset’s preliminary vote on West Bank annexation as “very stupid” and “offensive”.
Speaking from Ben Gurion Airport during his departure from Israel, he stated: “The vote was strange, I was somewhat confused by it. They told me it was a political stunt, but I personally find it offensive.”
He further emphasized that “the West Bank will not be annexed by Israel” and that this remains the steadfast policy of the United States.
Ceasefire and new phase of peace in Gaza
Referring to the Gaza ceasefire, Vance noted that “Israel is observing the ceasefire and Hamas is observing the ceasefire,” adding that minor exceptions are expected. “Our message to Israel is — do what you can, work with us to maintain this peace,” he emphasized.
He also confirmed that the new International Security Force will take the lead in disarming Hamas, emphasizing that the coming period will determine the region’s stability.
