The new dispute that erupted between Donald Trump and Elon Musk continues to rage, with the serial exchange of “fire” being enriched in recent hours, already counting a month of existence on the American political scene. With the new clash between the two “giants” having led to a 6.62% drop in Tesla stock, the global community is watching yet another incident of tension between the US president and his former close associate. The feud began in the early days of summer and escalated sharply until Musk accused the White House occupant of involvement in the list of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide in his New York cell.
Despite the fact that tensions had subsided weeks after the first strong tremors following the clash, tones escalated again with Donald Trump not ruling out the possibility of deporting Elon Musk. At the same time, the US president focused on investigating subsidies to Musk’s companies during the period when Mr Tesla held the portfolio of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Adding fuel to the fire of confrontation, Trump speaking about his former associate also said that “he might need to shut down his businesses and return to South Africa.”
Triggered by the feud that began with Musk’s disagreement over the tax bill promoted by the Republican staff, the American president warned that the businessman, who participated in his administration, could lose much more.
“Elon may be getting the most subsidies of any human being in history, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to shut down shop and return to his homeland, South Africa,” Trump wrote in a new sharp post on his Truth Social platform.
Trump vs Musk: Chronicle of the feud
The dispute between Donald Trump and Elon Musk appears to have reignited in recent days, but the feud had informally begun just a few weeks after the Republican assumed the US presidency. The tariff issue, for example, was enough to expose the beginning of the confrontation. The collapse of tech stocks and market turmoil created the first cracks in the relationship between the two men.
Differences in the trade field were blunted, but the final blow to the Trump-Musk relationship came with the 1,100-page tax bill for tax and spending cuts. Before the bill passed for voting by the House of Representatives, the Tesla founder had expressed his opposition by writing about something “disgusting” and saying “kill it.” He insisted that the bill would increase the deficit and lead to America’s bankruptcy, not hesitating to use harsh characterizations like “disgusting monstrosity.”
It all started, however, on June 3 when Musk attacked Trump over the tax bill, exercising fierce criticism. “I am very disappointed in Elon, I have helped him a lot,” Trump responded to the criticism. Mr Tesla continued to sharpen the confrontation by countering claims about a “beautiful bill,” openly challenging Trump. Moving to counterattack, he also favored creating a party that would represent 80% of the middle class.
The American president emphasized that everything is under review, including terminating contracts made during Musk’s tenure at DOGE. A day later, on June 7, Trump officially announced the termination of his relationship with Musk. At the same time, an extremely tense scenario was recorded with Musk linking Trump to the lists of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and Republican president associates like Steve Bannon raising the issue of deporting Mr Tesla. On June 11, Musk declared regret for certain social media posts.
However, the businessman “struck back” on June 30, speaking about unreasonable expenses included in the tax bill, with Trump’s response being immediate as the latter spoke about subsidies Musk received that need to be investigated. “Cut it all now,” Musk responded. The continuation is expected to be “written” on social media.
