A kindergarten in Kharkiv was struck by a Russian drone on Wednesday morning, killing one person and injuring seven others, according to Ukraine’s Interior Minister Igor Klimenko. Around fifty children were evacuated from the site, while the exact number of injured children remains under investigation.
According to Klimenko’s Facebook post, rescuers and police safely evacuated children from the kindergarten hit by the Russian attack. “Small hands hold the shoulders of those who save and protect them. There are no principles or rules in Russia’s actions. Only destruction and death,” the minister stated.

Police, in cooperation with Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), are documenting the incident as a war crime against civilians and children. “So far, we know that one person was killed and seven were wounded. About fifty children have been safely evacuated. The exact number of injured children is under investigation,” Klimenko added.
“There is no justification for a drone attack on a kindergarten, nor can there ever be. It’s clear that Russia is becoming increasingly brazen. These attacks are Russia’s slap in the face to all those who insist on a peaceful solution. Criminals and terrorists can only be put in their place through force,” wrote Volodymyr Zelensky.

Ukraine: Six killed, including two children – New strikes on energy infrastructure overnight
Meanwhile, at least six people, including two children, were killed in new Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine overnight, causing widespread power outages across the country, according to Ukrainian authorities.
According to Kyiv military administration chief Timur Tkachenko, debris from downed ammunition fell in multiple neighborhoods of the capital, causing fires in almost half the city. “Ukraine had long accepted the US ceasefire proposal, while Moscow is doing everything to continue the killings,” said Andriy Yermak, head of President Zelensky’s office, on Telegram. “This means collective actions against Putin are insufficient; we must all do more together to stop him,” he added.
Ukrainian rescue services announced that two people were killed in an attack on Kyiv and four others, including two children, lost their lives in strikes in the broader region. Ten people were rescued from a fire in a high-rise building in the Dniprovskyi district, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, while five injured, including one child, are hospitalized in the city.
Fires also broke out in the Desnianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Pechersk districts, where the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra monastery is located – one of Ukraine’s most important cultural and religious heritage symbols. The attacks, according to Ukrainian authorities, began overnight and continued until Wednesday morning, initially with ballistic missiles and then with drones. Moscow has not yet commented.
Energy infrastructure targeted again in Ukraine
“All night the enemy struck the country’s energy infrastructure,” said Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk, without providing further details. The ministry confirmed in a later statement that emergency power outages occurred in most regions of Ukraine, including the capital and its suburbs.
In the central Poltava region, oil and gas facilities suffered damage in the Myrhorod area, according to the regional governor. In Zaporizhzhia, in the southeastern war zone, thirteen people were injured in overnight attacks, said local governor Ivan Fedorov.
