Charlie Kirk was posthumously awarded honors yesterday, Tuesday (14/10), by American President Donald Trump. The ultra-conservative influencer who was assassinated on September 10th during a public rally received the highest American civilian honor from Trump – the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Trump: Kirk was a “martyr for truth” – comparison to Socrates and Abraham Lincoln
The Republican president determined that the young man, who was killed by gunfire at age 31, became a “martyr for truth and freedom” who can be compared, in his view, to Socrates, Saint Peter, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr. He emphasized Kirk’s very active role as a Christian nationalist in mobilizing American youth in his favor ahead of last year’s presidential elections.

Trump’s attack: “Legions of far-left extremists follow the devil’s ideology”
The 79-year-old Republican president, during a ceremony in the White House gardens, also attacked a political faction that is now permanently in his rhetorical crosshairs – the far left, which follows what he calls “the devil’s ideology.”
“We see legions of far-left extremists committing violent acts,” assured Mr. Trump, who ordered military deployment in various cities governed by Democrats, defying opposition from local officials.
The American president maintains that political violence in the US is solely due to the left. He never refers to attacks against Democratic personalities.
Charlie Kirk’s widow’s message: “His mission didn’t die with him”
The widow of the murdered Trump supporter received the honorary distinction on behalf of the deceased and delivered a speech that she repeatedly interrupted to control her emotions. “To all of you watching us. This is not a ceremony, it’s a roadmap,” said Erica Kirk, who succeeded her late husband as leader of the radical right youth organization Turning Point USA. “His mission didn’t die with him,” she also said.
Charlie Kirk’s widow also said that if her husband were alive, “he probably would have run” for president in future elections.
The alleged murderer of the Trump influencer, Tyler Robinson, 22, faces the death penalty. His court appearance is expected on October 30th.
Meanwhile, the State Department announced yesterday that it canceled the visas of at least six foreigners who were in the US because they allegedly “celebrated the heinous murder of Charlie Kirk,” posting excerpts of the incriminating messages attributed to them via X.
The Trump administration has canceled passport validations in many cases due to the political views of beneficiaries, a practice that is at least controversial but defended by Secretary of State Marco Rubio – especially students who expressed support for Palestinians. After Charlie Kirk’s murder, many Americans who criticized the victim through social media sites learned they were fired from their jobs because of their comments about the case.
