The Israeli delegation includes representatives from the Armed Forces, Mossad, Shin Bet, foreign affairs advisor Ophir Falk, and hostage affairs coordinator Gal Hirsch. Dermer’s absence suggests that critical details remain pending, such as the list of Palestinian prisoners to be released and the Israeli military withdrawal plan from Gaza.

Hamas’s delegation, led by Khalil al-Hayya, is also in Cairo. Despite pressure from Donald Trump to move negotiations quickly, a senior Israeli official stated that talks could last for days, as they seek a complete and detailed agreement rather than a temporary ceasefire. The negotiations include managing Gaza’s administration, creating an international stabilization force, and Israel’s withdrawal timeline.

Gaza: EU support and humanitarian efforts
The European Union continues to support the two-state solution and strengthens humanitarian efforts. Commission representatives stated that over 300 Palestinian patients have been evacuated to European countries, accompanied by their relatives, especially children, as part of medical evacuation operations. Meanwhile, the EU is providing 1.6 billion euros over the next three years while collaborating with regional partners to stabilize the region.
