In an atmosphere that combined royal splendor with intense political symbolism, King Frederick and Queen Mary of Denmark hosted a dinner in honor of approximately 50 Heads of State and Government from the EU and the European Political Community. The event took place at Amalienborg in Copenhagen, where European leaders gathered for the 7th Summit with a primary focus on strengthening Ukraine, European security, and the role of the Old Continent in the ever-changing geopolitical environment.

Presence of top leaders and the monarch’s message
The royal dinner, described as “working” (according to Billed-Bladet magazine), brought together the cream of the European political scene. Present were Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, as well as the heads of European institutions: Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa. King Frederick and Queen Mary also welcomed Prince Albert of Monaco and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. It should be noted that King Frederick is the nephew of the late Queen Anne-Marie and therefore cousin to her children (Alexia, Paul, Nicholas, Theodora, and Philip).
