An alarm was raised on Wednesday morning (1/10) in the Bronx, New York, as an explosion caused the partial collapse of a multi-story apartment building, resulting in severe damage to the structure. Videos posted on social media show extensive damage across an entire side of the 20-story building.

According to initial reports, the collapse may be related to a possible gas explosion. The explosion was recorded around 8:10 AM at the Mitchel Houses housing complex, located at the intersection of Alexander Avenue and East 135th Street in the Mott Haven area. Large chunks of wall and other debris were hurled into surrounding streets, falling on nearby buildings and sidewalks.

So far, no injuries have been reported, while firefighters are searching through the debris for any trapped individuals. Authorities are asking drivers and residents to avoid the area.
