A fire broke out this morning at Heathrow airport in London, when a vehicle caught fire in the multi-story parking garage at Terminal 3, with thick smoke billowing from the car park. Four fire engines and approximately 25 firefighters are operating on site.
Authorities received eight phone calls about the incident, with the first call made at 9:03 AM (local time, 11:03 AM Greek time). Emergency services from Heathrow, Hayes and Feltham were immediately deployed.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. Part of the M4, in the outbound direction from the airport, was closed, while bus routes were diverted. The fire caused traffic congestion on roads, while several buses were forced to stop before reaching the airport. An airport spokesperson described it as an isolated incident.
