Russia characterizes as “baseless accusations” the allegations against it regarding drone flights over Copenhagen airport, which closed yesterday Monday (22/09/25) for 4 hours causing major disruption and leading Denmark’s prime minister to declare it the biggest attack her country has faced on its infrastructure.
Russia specifically maintained that it is not involved in the unmanned aircraft flights over Copenhagen airport. “Every time, we hear baseless accusations,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov characteristically stated during his daily press briefing. Danish authorities today denounced a “serious attack” against the country’s infrastructure, with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stating that she “does not rule out” the possibility that Russia is responsible.

“Denmark faces significant sabotage threat”
Specifically, the drone intrusion that caused Copenhagen airport’s closure yesterday, Monday, was the most serious attack on Danish infrastructure to date, according to today’s statement by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. Denmark faces a “significant sabotage threat,” Danish intelligence services announced today. “We face in Denmark a significant sabotage threat. They may not attack us, but they are pressuring us to see how we react,” said intelligence service (PET) operations director Fleming Drejer during a press conference.
Police are investigating multiple scenarios for the drones’ origin, including the possibility they were launched from ships, said police director Jens Jespersen. Danish police refused to comment on a post on X by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who wrote, without providing evidence, that Russia is behind the Copenhagen airspace violation.
“I can’t say anything about that. Not because I don’t want to, but because I simply don’t know,” Jespersen stated. Denmark’s Foreign Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment, according to the APE-MPE report.
