Donald Trump demanded prosecution against his political opponents on Saturday (21/09) from the Justice Department. The American president is escalating tensions by exerting intense pressure for “justice to be served now” regarding two of his opponents who face fraud charges. Specifically, Trump, addressing Attorney General Pam Bondi through social media posts, criticizes delays in potential prosecutions against California Senator Adam Schiff and New York State Attorney General Letitia James, both Democratic Party members. It should be noted that the two politicians are accused of document falsification related to real estate loan applications by Housing Finance Service official Bill Poult, an ally of the American president.

Trump: “It destroys our reputation and credibility”
Specifically, in a post on Truth Social, the US president wrote: “We cannot wait any longer, this is destroying our reputation and credibility.” He also mentioned reading dozens of messages calling for the prosecution of Schiff and James, as well as former FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump accuses of lying to Congress. On Friday, federal prosecutor Eric Siebert, who had refused to proceed with prosecution against Letitia James citing lack of evidence according to American media, resigned after the Republican president demanded his departure.
Letitia James, a fierce opponent of Donald Trump, had secured his conviction for a fine of nearly half a billion dollars before his return to the White House. This fraud conviction was overturned in late August by a New York state appeals court, which deemed the fine “excessive,” while James announced her intention to challenge this decision. “I fired him (Siebert) and there is a BIG CASE, and many lawyers and legal experts are saying the same thing,” Trump noted in his post, apparently referring to investigations targeting James. Later yesterday, the American president announced he proposed Lindsey Halligan, White House counsel, to replace Eric Siebert, believing that Pam Bondi “needs a tough prosecutor” by her side “to get things moving.”
Trump: “They targeted me for nothing”
It should be noted that during Trump’s first term, Adam Schiff, who was then a House of Representatives member, had led the impeachment proceedings against him. Trump was subsequently acquitted by the Senate, and again in 2021 after a second impeachment process. “They targeted me with impeachment twice and indicted me (5 times!) FOR NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW,” the American president wrote on Truth Social.
