Kimberly Guilfoyle issued her first statement following the United States Senate’s decision on Thursday, September 18, to confirm her appointment as the new US Ambassador to Greece. “I am extremely grateful to President Donald J. She continues: “It is the greatest honor of my life to serve as the first woman United States Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic. Greece is the cradle of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law – the same ideals that inspired America’s Founders and continue to make America the greatest country in the world. As Ambassador, I look forward to working with our Greek Allies to advance peace, prosperity, and security in the Eastern Mediterranean. I intend to be a proud representative of President Trump, a steadfast advocate for American interests, and an unwavering friend to Greece and the Greek people.”
Kimberly Guilfoyle will be the 25th United States Ambassador to take office in Greece since the American Diplomatic Mission was upgraded to an Embassy in 1942.
“My honor”: Kimberly Guilfoyle’s first reaction and Instagram story
With a simple yet symbolic post on her personal social media account, Kimberly Guilfoyle commented for the first time on the official confirmation of her appointment by the US Senate as the new Ambassador to Greece. Specifically, Guilfoyle reposted a story from NBC news about the Senate’s “green light,” accompanying it with the phrase “My honor” and the flags of the United States and Greece, in a first digital statement marking the beginning of her tenure in Athens.

She also received many congratulations, reposting some of them through related stories, including one from Emma Mitchem who wrote the word “finally” above the Axios article about the appointment of the new US Ambassador to Greece.

Kimberly Guilfoyle’s appointment officially confirmed
The US Senate on Thursday evening confirmed 48 of President Trump’s nominees in a single 51-47 vote on September 18, 2025, after Republicans changed the rules to limit debate and speed up the process. Lawmakers voted along party lines to confirm 48 of Trump’s nominees, many of whom were destined for positions as deputy or assistant secretary in various agencies across the federal government, as well as ambassadorial positions.
The path to Kimberly Guilfoyle’s confirmation opened after the activation of the so-called “nuclear option,” that is, changing the regulations by the Republican majority that allowed nominees to be confirmed in groups.
According to the original plan, Guilfoyle should have already been in Greece by now. However, Democratic displeasure with the approval of the “big and beautiful bill,” as President Trump called it, led them to decide not to support the appointments process, resulting in delays. Guilfoyle’s approval is considered particularly significant for the US, as Washington seeks to further strengthen relations with Athens during a period of geopolitical realignments in the Eastern Mediterranean.
