A powerful and moving moment was captured during the return of Charlie Kirk’s body to Arizona. Usha Vance, wife of US Vice President J.D. Vance, stood by Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, holding her hand as they disembarked from Air Force Two. According to the Daily Mail, dressed in black and wearing sunglasses, the two women descended the aircraft stairs together, with Erika, a mother of two young children, keeping her gaze down. Usha Vance accompanied her by placing her hand around her shoulders, before they joined hands.

Charlie Kirk: Video shows Vance helping load coffin in Utah
Vance and his wife accompanied the body and Erika during their return journey, while the latter, having boarded an SUV, waved – unable to hold back her tears – to Kirk’s supporters, who were waving American flags during the motorcade’s reception outside Hansen Mortuary Chapel church in Phoenix. Earlier, video circulated on social media captured Vance helping to load the coffin onto the plane in Utah. The US Vice President, who called Charlie Kirk a “true friend,” canceled his participation in 9/11 memorial events to meet the victim’s family in Utah. Meanwhile, Donald Trump announced the posthumous awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Kirk, calling for a “response” to the crime, but without “violence.” Kirk “fought for non-violence. That’s how I would want people to react,” the Republican leader said yesterday. A standard-bearer for Trump’s youth movement, now a “martyr” for the American right and far-right, Charlie Kirk was killed last Wednesday when he was shot in the neck while participating in a public speaking event on a university campus in Utah, in the western United States.
Charlie Kirk’s body was flown Thursday on Air Force Two — the vice president’s plane — from Utah to Arizona, where he lived with his family.
