Developments are rapidly unfolding in the murder of conservative activist and Donald Trump supporter Charlie Kirk in Utah. On Thursday afternoon, the FBI released photographs of the suspect, calling on citizens to help identify him.
The photo release comes just hours after the FBI announced they had obtained the photograph, clarifying that they are using specialized tools for identification. FBI Special Agent Robert Coles, head of the Salt Lake office, had stated that authorities have “some partial fingerprints and material from all cameras throughout the area.”
Federal law enforcement investigators have conducted a comprehensive search of buildings and cameras and have material evidence of the perpetrator in their possession.
New revelations about Charlie Kirk’s murder
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reveals that investigators found slogans carved on the bullets from the weapon used by the perpetrator to shoot and kill Kirk, displaying “anti-fascist and trans ideology” messages. The FBI announced earlier that authorities located the assassin’s weapon and have a “good” video with his image, however they have not yet identified him. They added that he appears to be a young man.
At the same time, the climate of division in the US is deepening as Donald Trump blamed the “radical Left.” “For years the radical Left has equated wonderful Americans like Charlie with Nazis and with the worst criminals and mass murderers in the world. This rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism we are experiencing today in our country, and this must stop immediately,” the Republican president argued in a video he released via Truth Social.
Who was Charlie Kirk
Charlie James Kirk, born in 1993 in Illinois, was a well-known conservative activist, author and broadcaster. At a young age, he abandoned his studies to dedicate himself to political action, founding Turning Point USA in 2012 with the goal of promoting conservative ideas among youth and in university settings. Under his leadership, Turning Point developed into one of the most significant organizations of the American right-wing movement, creating branches and subsidiaries such as Turning Point Action and Turning Point Faith.
He also became particularly well-known through his show The Charlie Kirk Show and authoring books, including The MAGA Doctrine and Right-Wing Revolution. Kirk’s public presence was characterized by intense political and ideological positioning in favor of the Republican Party and specifically the line represented by Donald Trump. He created tools like the Professor Watchlist, aimed at cataloging university professors considered to be promoting “radical ideas.” His positions often provoke reactions and intense public dialogue in the United States.
