A new hate crime incident shocks Italy, as a couple of Jewish tourists, originally from Israel and the United States, suffered a brutal attack in central Venice by ten young men. One of the perpetrators even threatened to unleash his Rottweiler on them. According to Italian media reports, the victims were an Orthodox Jewish couple who became targets during their vacation because of their religious clothing.
The Italian newspaper La Stampa reports that the attackers beat them, slapped them, and injured their legs, while the tourists tried unsuccessfully to get away. One of the ten young men threatened to release his Rottweiler to bite the couple. Italian police and Venice prosecutors have launched an investigation, with the perpetrators facing charges of causing bodily harm and making threats.
