The European political groups of the Left and the Patriots for Europe have filed two separate no-confidence motions against Ursula von der Leyen, two months after the previous similar procedure. The no-confidence motions will once again bring the Commission President to Parliament to defend her positions.
The Patriots, according to the report, blame von der Leyen for her inability to manage challenges and accuse her of lacking transparency and accountability, criticizing agreements with the US and Mercosur.
On the other hand, the Left speaks of inaction regarding the EU’s executive power amid the war in Gaza.
Ursula von der Leyen: What the Left’s no-confidence motion states
“The time has come for Ursula von der Leyen to see the exit door,” notes the Left in a related announcement and emphasizes: “The Left has filed a no-confidence motion against von der Leyen’s Commission. A Commission that:
*Signed trade agreements with Mercosur countries and the US without EP approval
*Sold out workers and farmers
* Channeled billions into weapons and war
* Dismantled protection for climate and social rights
* Became complicit in the genocide of Palestinians
This Commission has lost all legitimacy,” is highlighted in the Left’s no-confidence motion against von der Leyen.
