A heartbreaking tribute to Merkouris Psillakis was paid by the twin brother of the Greek-Australian surfer who lost his life following a shark attack in Sydney, Australia. The 57-year-old Greek-Australian was mauled by a shark at a Sydney beach on September 6th. His twin brother, Mike, described the tragedy as “the hardest moment of my life,” honoring his brother two days after the tragedy with an Instagram post.
“He was my Yin, and I was his Yang,” Mike wrote alongside photos with his brother. “He was my mirror, my blood, my DNA. We were telepathic. We shared the same soul. Merkouris was my life, my right hand.”
“Words cannot describe the bond we had growing up. We had our own language and shared the same dreams, literally. The experiences we lived together were truly incredible,” he continues in his moving message.
Despite the tragic circumstances of his death, Mike mentioned in his tribute that his brother’s message was “to live life with absolute passion.”
“He was passionate… the soul of every party…” he continued. “He loved his wife Maria and Eleftheria so much,” he added about the wife and daughter Merkouris leaves behind. “Please support them in any way you can.”
“I love you brother, you are forever with me, through me,” he concludes in his heartbreaking message.
