Rivalta, the birthplace of Giorgio Armani in northern Italy, became the center of an emotional farewell today for the internationally renowned fashion designer, who passed away on Thursday, September 4th in Milan. The funeral is taking place in a close circle of family and a few executives from the fashion house, while the previous weekend 16,000 people had gathered at the Armani Theatre in Milan to pay tribute to his life and work. Rivalta, where he was born in 1934, hosts the ceremony as a place symbolizing Armani’s roots and journey. According to reports, after the funeral is completed, his body will be cremated, completing the life cycle of one of the world’s greatest fashion creators.

Father Giuseppe Buzani, priest of Rivalta, described Armani saying: “Giorgio Armani was a guardian of the garden of beauty, which the Lord created. He lived this experience with the aristocratic simplicity that characterized him. Often creation is wounded, but he contributed to its renewal”.
