Daily life in Israel is returning to normal rhythms, with schools across the country reopening their doors for the first time since hostilities with Iran erupted, following yesterday’s announcement by the Home Front Command of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) that all restrictions imposed on citizens during the conflict with Tehran have been lifted.
Local authorities must also approve the decision, and schools that have suffered damage from Iranian fire or are located in areas with direct damage will not be required to open. Some municipalities have decided not to open schools today. According to Channel 12, approximately 300 educational institutions have sustained damage from ballistic missile attacks by Iran.
Additionally, the situation is difficult for children who were forced to leave their homes due to missile damage and may not be near their schools.
Children in Israel have seen their learning process disrupted for extended periods since 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic began.
Apart from pandemic lockdowns, schools have closed due to rounds of hostilities with terrorist organizations in Gaza, as well as for several months due to the ongoing war that began with the October 7, 2023 attacks. The education system often closes due to strikes as well.
