A shocking incest case occurred in Cyprus, involving a 14-year-old who was inviting classmates to have sexual encounters with his sister.
The case involves the distribution of videos depicting sexual scenes between two minor siblings, with the 14-year-old apparently distributing this material.
Shocking incest case in Cyprus: 14-year-old had sex with sister and sent explicit videos to friends
According to a report by Cypriot website Cyprus Times, it all began on June 20, 2025, when a gymnasium in Larnaca province notified police that a student had videos on his phone showing his 14-year-old classmate having sex with one of his younger twin sisters. As the student testified, his 14-year-old classmate had sent him related videos and there were also related online conversations. Two other classmates testified they saw videos in a group Instagram chat.
After checking the student’s phone, 9 videos were found. According to testimony, the footage was not recorded by the device’s camera that was displaying them, but by a second phone recording the screen where the Instagram app was open. At the top, the indication “From user … to you” was visible.
In these videos, the 14-year-old’s face is not visible, but his body from the waist down and his fingers can be seen. In contrast, in some shots the girl’s face is visible during a specific sexual act, while in the encounter space various household furniture, a specific bed, clothes and shoes can be seen, which according to police match the people in the videos and likely belong to them.
What the forensic examination revealed
The same day, the 14-year-old’s parents were called to the “Children’s House” along with their twin daughters. The minor handed over a mobile phone to police, while a forensic examination was also conducted on one of the minors.
The examination recorded old hymen rupture and signs of inflammation, as well as redness in the genital organs. It’s worth noting that in her recorded testimony, the minor did not mention elements pointing to sexual abuse, but to consensual sexual activity.
Investigators, as part of their inquiries, took statements from the 14-year-old’s classmates and conducted digital examinations of the videos.
The role of the 14-year-old’s grandfather – Search of his house
The Larnaca District Court a few days later, on July 8, approved a search warrant for the grandfather’s house (on their mother’s side). Police were looking for electronic devices (phones, tablets, computers) and clothes/shoes that, in their estimation, the minor and his sister were wearing in the videos.
The grandfather and the minor, through his parents, requested the Supreme Court to allow them to challenge the warrant. The Supreme Court clarified that it was not examining the substance of the case at this stage, but whether there was an “issue” worth judging, which according to procedure would be examined at a later stage.
Why the search warrant was partially annulled
Judge Lena Dimitriadou-Andreou gave permission to grandfather and grandson to file an application to annul the search warrant, approving only two reasons out of the 8 they raised. The other 6 reasons were rejected.
- The first reason concerns electronic devices:
The Court saw that in the investigator’s oath accompanying the search warrant request, there was no specific testimony “linking” phones, tablets or computers located in the grandfather’s house with the crimes. That is, it doesn’t explain why there should be electronic evidence, especially in this location. This was considered “debatable” and permission was given to put it to judgment for issuing a Certiorari warrant. - The second reason concerns parenthetical reference to “arrest”:
In the warrant text there was, in parentheses, a phrase that seemed to allow arrest of the minor, although police had not requested such a thing in their application. The Supreme Court judged that here too there is an issue that needs to be examined. Whether such wording is legal and Constitutional.
The other claims by grandfather and grandson were deemed unfounded. Indicatively, it was not accepted that the Larnaca District Court acted “mechanically,” nor that the passage of days from the first complaint cancels the need for investigation.
Finally, regarding the clothes and shoes that police wanted to find, it was judged that there was a logical connection to the location, since the children frequented the grandfather’s house and specific clothing is visible in the videos.
Investigations by Cypriot authorities are ongoing.
