The timeline
It was February 14, 2013 when Oscar Pistorius’s girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp was found shot dead inside the couple’s home. The Paralympic athlete was arrested in Pretoria for her murder.
He admitted to killing her, but trying to fool everyone, claimed it was an accident. He insisted he mistook her for a burglar. The unfortunate woman allegedly had secretly entered the house to surprise him for Valentine’s Day. He maintained that he mistook her for a thief and shot her before seeing who had entered the house.
Specifically, in his defense he testified that he heard a noise and the bathroom door closing. He fired toward the bathroom without knowing who was inside.
During the trial, Pistorius cried, appeared without his prosthetic limbs, vomited and claimed he had psychological problems, with many calling it a well-orchestrated performance.
