They were forced to walk along the tunnel to reach a safe point. This ordeal was endured by passengers on the London Underground who remained trapped on the train for hours.
The incident occurred on Monday evening when a Jubilee line train was immobilized between Westminster and Waterloo stations. Video from inside the train shows people disembarking from the carriages, which eyewitnesses described as “hot and suffocatingly crowded.”
Passengers trapped on London Underground: “We had absolutely no information because the power was cut”
A female passenger told the BBC: “For about an hour or more we had absolutely no information, not even from the driver, because the power had been cut.”
For their part, a Transport for London spokesperson said: “We apologize to Jubilee line passengers who were stranded on a faulty train last night and to passengers whose journeys were disrupted by this incident, which involved the problem train and another faulty train.”
Severe delays on the Jubilee line continued throughout Tuesday morning, with service partially suspended for some time between London Bridge and Green Park stations.
