Mexican influencer Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay was found dead inside a pickup truck along with her husband and their two children in a brutal murder that remains unsolved. The victims are 32-year-old Esmeralda, her 36-year-old husband, their 13-year-old son, and their 7-year-old daughter.
The bodies were discovered last week in Guadalajara, but their identities were only revealed yesterday, according to The Sun. The family had recently relocated to the city to live and work there. The influencer’s husband traded vehicles and tomatoes in Michoacán state, where they originally came from. Authorities believe that he was the target of the murderous attack and not the TikToker’s activities.
Mexico: Two people arrested and released, one kidnapped
The investigation links the family’s vehicle to a specific garage, where evidence was found indicating that their murder was committed there. Two workers were arrested and questioned but were released because there was no evidence against them. Remarkably, as they were leaving the prosecutor’s office, an armed group kidnapped one of the workers, although the other managed to escape.
The influencer had tens of thousands of followers on social media and hundreds of thousands of likes. She spoke about luxury vacations and expensive clothes, gave lifestyle advice, and sang narcocorridos, songs that glorify cartels.
