European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held telephone conversations with US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as she announced in a post on platform X, following a massive Russian attack on Kyiv that also hit the EU delegation offices in the Ukrainian capital.
“Just spoke with President Zelensky and then with President Donald Trump, following the massive strike on Kyiv which also hit our EU offices. Putin must come to the negotiating table. We must secure a just and lasting peace for Ukraine with firm and credible security guarantees that will turn the country into an impregnable defensive force. Europe will play its full role. Our SAFE defense tool, for example, will be crucial for strengthening Ukraine’s brave armed forces,” von der Leyen emphasized.

NATO’s Rutte contacts Kallas and von der Leyen after Russian strike on EU diplomatic mission in Kyiv
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte communicated, as he stated, with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen regarding the Russian attack on an EU delegation building in Kyiv.
Rutte, speaking at a meeting of German government parties in the southern city of Würzburg, added that he cannot comment on recent rumors about Russian espionage in Europe.
