The family and loved ones of Turkish businessman Halit Yukay have been plunged into mourning after his body was found at a depth of 68 meters following 19 days of intensive searches.
His yacht “Graywolf,” which he had sailed on August 4th bound for Mykonos, was found half-submerged and destroyed off Artaki in the Sea of Marmara. According to CNN Turk reports, the 43-year-old businessman had planned to pick up his family from Bozcaada before departing for their vacation on the Greek island.
Recovery operation for Turkish businessman’s body – Investigation into accident causes
The body recovery process is expected to be carried out using a special “elevator” system to safely retrieve it from the seabed without causing further damage. However, operations have not proceeded due to strong winds in the area. Rescue teams are expected to return when weather conditions improve, according to Hurriyet.
Meanwhile, the Marmara Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the “Graywolf” accident, and the captain of the ship “Arel 7” has been arrested on charges of “causing death through negligence,” as the prevailing scenario suggests his vessel collided with the Turkish businessman’s yacht.
