Luck was definitely on the side of a 39-year-old man from Kent County, Michigan, as he managed to turn a small lottery win into a massive cash prize.
It all started when he bought a Jumbo Jackpot Slots Fast Cash ticket for $30 and won $300 (256 euros). However, from his lottery winnings, he decided to use $20 to purchase a Super Lucky 7s ticket.
Michigan: Won $250 in lottery and ended up taking home over $600,000
Of course, even he didn’t expect that this time he would be even luckier and win over 600,000 euros. As he characteristically stated: “I scanned the ticket on the Michigan Lottery app and started shaking when I saw I had won $714,891 (610,000 euros).” He added: “The first thing I did was go and hug the cashier!”
What he’ll do with his winnings
The lucky 39-year-old collected his prize, but the amount he received after tax withholdings was not disclosed. He plans to use his winnings to pay bills and his children’s college expenses.
Not the first incident
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened in the United States, as a similar incident occurred with a North Carolina resident when he went to collect a $50,000 prize that he and his daughter had won.
Upon arriving there, since it was the man’s birthday, his daughter gave him a KENO ticket as a gift. What no one expected was that they would hit 10 numbers and win another $100,000.
