The community in the city of Karachi, Pakistan was left in shock after a powerful explosion occurred on Thursday (21/08) at a fireworks warehouse, resulting in the death of four people, while the number of injured from the incident exceeded 30.
Specifically, the warehouse and many shops in the surrounding area were engulfed in flames, where after the initial explosion several smaller ones followed, forcing residents to evacuate the area, according to Reuters.

“I thought several bombs had exploded,” Aqib Khan, a local resident, told reporters about the intensity of the explosion, which was so powerful that it shattered windows of nearby shops. It should be noted that glass fragments scattered over people on the street.
In videos circulating online, thick smoke can be seen rising from a multi-story building with firefighters working to extinguish the fire caused by the explosion. It is noted that the causes of the explosion have not been clarified.
It is worth mentioning that during the explosion, people began running for cover and drivers hastily turned their cars away. Karachi is Pakistan’s economic capital with a population of over 20 million, while the explosion occurred one day after heavy monsoon rains flooded the city.
